Santa Fe Travel & Tourism was born out of my burning desire to honor and recognize my beloved late brother – Fadi Walid Kawar’s love of adventure, travel and appreciation of culture, cuisine and heritage, both locally and abroad. From his annual Independence Day parties designed to promote his love of Aqaba, to his epic Horus Yacht parties, to his countless impromptu travel adventures both near and far, Fadi consistently lived his life to the fullest, spreading love laughter and joy to all those around him.

To name this company I went through Fadi’s nicknames; Caesar, Horus, Da Vinci, Aries even Al Fadi, but to my disappointment all of them were already registered! In that moment, I closed my eyes and envisioned my brother, as I often do when feeling overwhelmed: “Fadi…help me…guide me…I need a name NOW…give me a name!” Suddenly, the name “Santa Fe” flashed in front of my eyes! “Oh my God, how did I ever forget that?” It was Fadi’s all-time favorite song and I even played it at his funeral. Guess what, Santa Fe was available!
At the turn of the new millennium, on one of his trips to Dahab Egypt, Fadi came up-on the Eye of Horus and immediately felt a deep spiritual link to the imagery and message behind it. For those that do not know, the left Eye of Horus is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power and good health. Fascinated by the story and meaning behind the Eye of Horus, Fadi became enamored with the symbol and integrated the image into all facets of his life, the most important of which was a white-gold necklace of the Eye, which he wore without fail for about eleven years, up until he removed it for the first time, two months before his crossing in August of 2011.
Beyond his love of adventure, Fadi was a deep intellect, a true philosopher – Friend of Knowledge – and a classic truth-seeking debater! For that reason, a portion of the proceeds from Santa Fe will be dedicated towards helping talented underprivileged youth in Amman to achieve their higher education goals, so they too, can eat good food and live a good life.
May the beautiful spirit of Fadi Walid Kawar live on to inspire us to be present in the moment
and live our lives with grace, humility, direction and purpose.
